The Activision Blizzard Arbitrage: Better than Bonds

Oh, hello there, fellow treasure hunters!

Let’s talk about Activision Blizzard Inc. (ATVI), the makers of some of the most epic video games of all time, like World of Warcraft, Call of Duty, and Overwatch. These guys are the masters of the gaming universe, and they’re rumored to be in talks with Microsoft about a potential buyout. But is it a good time to invest in ATVI, and how can you make money from it?

First of all, let’s address the elephant in the room: the eminent Microsoft buyout. Now, we don’t know for sure if this is gonna happen, as it involves our favorite little friends, big Gov. Now the government has big cannons but Microsoft has even deeper pockets than our broke ass government and could give them a run for their money to snap up this gaming behemoth.

My money is on CEO Satcha Nadela as he has competence on his side. I don’t think the govenment has much of a case especially with Microsoft offering an olive branch to one of the biggest companies this would do collateral damage to; Sony. They committed to making Call of Duty, their biggest title, available on Playstation for a decade. Even the government in Japan seems to agree this lowers it below the bar of anti-competitive.

So, if you wanna ride the ATVI stock arbitrage to play the probable gain from what the stock is at now vs what Microsoft has committed to buying it for, you might get an easy portfolio pop in an era where treasuries seem to be onke of the only ways to get much yield.

But even without the potential buyout, there are plenty of reasons to consider investing in ATVI. The gaming industry is hotter than a jalapeño pepper in the desert, with more people than ever before playing video games on all kinds of devices. And ATVI has a solid lineup of games that generate steady revenue streams. They’re like the Willy Wonka of the gaming world, but instead of candy, they’re dishing out digital adventures that gamers can’t get enough of.

Plus, ATVI has been branching out into new markets, like mobile gaming and esports. Mobile gaming is like the Swiss Army knife of gaming, with games that can be played anywhere, anytime, and on any device. And esports is like the Olympics of gaming, with massive tournaments and competitions that attract millions of viewers and fans. ATVI is like a Swiss Army knife that can compete in the Olympics, which is pretty darn impressive if you ask me.

Activision is 1% of Buffett’s massive Berkshire Hathoway holdings, they owned it before the buyout, but he has doubled down since.

So, how can you make money from buying ATVI stock now? Well, one strategy is to follow the “value investing” approach that the legendary Warren Buffett swears by. This involves looking for undervalued stocks that have strong fundamentals and long-term growth potential. In the case of ATVI, the company has a low price-to-earnings ratio compared to its peers, which means it might be undervalued. Plus, ATVI has a strong balance sheet with minimal debt, which is like finding a unicorn that’s also a leprechaun that’s also a good luck charm.

Now, there are always risks involved in investing in stocks, and ATVI is no exception. The gaming industry can be unpredictable, with new competitors popping up like weeds in a garden. And if the Microsoft buyout doesn’t happen, it could have a negative impact on the stock price. But hey, life is full of risks, like crossing the street or trying to pet a grizzly bear.

In summary, buying ATVI stock now could be like buying a ticket to the Millennium Falcon, taking you on a ride through the gaming galaxy. And with the potential for a Microsoft buyout and strong fundamentals, it could be a smart move for investors looking to make some cash. As always, do your research and make sure you’re comfortable with the risks before investing. May the force be with you, my friends!
